Isobar Maps is one a several types of contour maps used today. The most typically know is topographic map, which measures elevations using contour lines. In the case, isobar maps also use contour lines but to measure a different variable: air pressure. As shown above, contour lines are showing the patten of the areas air pressure (in the UK and Ireland), which happens to be low in some areas, high in others. This map can be used to predict what the weather may be like in the region.
