Dot density (distribution) maps use dots to represent a certain number, measuring an occurrence or phenomenon. The sizes of the dots do not vary and location is relative, rather than absolute. Dot density maps are also a type of loin pattern map, which can be compared to proportional circle map. The dot density map shown above, highlights Hispanic populations across, the United States, in which each dot represents 100,000 hi panic individuals in that area.
